Fenerbahce's coach Zeljko Obradovic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) produced 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Eskisehir Basket. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Fenerbahce is looking forward to face Pinar Karsiyaka (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Galatasaray will play against Eskisehir Basket (#3) in Edirne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sakarya. Top-ranked Tofas faced 3rd ranked Sakarya BSB. Guests from Bursa (4-0) defeated host Sakarya BSB (2-2) 86-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sakarya BSB. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican-American swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists. Raymar Morgan contributed with 21 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Tofas' coach Orhun Ene allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) replied with 23 points and 4 assists for Sakarya BSB. Tofas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Newly promoted Sakarya BSB dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Tofas will play against Istanbul BBSK (#5) at home in the next round. Sakarya BSB will play against Usak Sportlif and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Gaziantep between Eskisehir Basket and Gaziantep. Fifth ranked Eskisehir Basket (3-1) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Gaziantep (1-3). Eskisehir Basket managed to escape with a 1-point win 119-118 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of Jeff Ayres who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Eskisehir Basket's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Victor Rudd responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Eskisehir Basket moved-up to second place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce. Loser Gaziantep keeps the twelfth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Eskisehir Basket will meet at home Galatasaray (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaziantep will play against Demir IBB in Buyukcekmece and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very interesting game took place in Balikesir. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 15th ranked Trabzonspor (1-3) to eighth ranked Banvit (2-2) 75-72 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The winners were led by Tony Taylor who scored that evening 18 points and 5 assists. Trabzonspor's coach Zare Markovski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Banvit moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Trabzonspor at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. Banvit's next round opponent will be Yesilgiresun Bld (#11) in Giresun where they are favorite. Trabzonspor will play at home against the league's second-placed Anadolu Efes and hope to win that game.
