BSL Round 28: Anadolu Efes are defeated by Darussafaka in a derby game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in BSL. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Darussafaka (#6) and Anadolu Efes (#3). Darussafaka (17-11) won against visiting Anadolu Efes (20-8) 79-67. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Anadolu Efes. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian center Micheal Eric (210-88, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Kartal Ozmizrak (189-95, agency: BeoBasket) who added 18 points during the contest. At the losing side American-Armenian center Bryant Dunston (203-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Darussafaka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Banvit BK. Anadolu Efes at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Darussafaka is looking forward to face Yesilgiresun Bld (#15) in Giresun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Anadolu Efes will play at home against Gaziantep (#14) and is hoping to win this game.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Besiktas (#4). Fenerbahce (24-3) smashed visiting Besiktas (18-10) by 23 points 83-60. The winners were led by international point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 18 points and Sinan Guler supported him with 14 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 20 points by American guard Josh Adams (188-93, college: Wyoming) did not help to save the game for Besiktas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 24-3 record. Besiktas at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Fenerbahce will play against Sakarya BSB (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Besiktas will play against Eskisehir Basket (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Sixteenth-ranked Usak Sportlif (5-23) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Eskisehir Basket (15-13) in Edirne on Sunday. Eskisehir Basket managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Billy Baron fired 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Eskisehir Basket's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Jackie Carmichael produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Newly promoted Eskisehir Basket maintains seventh position with 15-13 record. Usak Sportlif lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Eskisehir Basket will meet higher ranked Besiktas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Usak Sportlif will play against Demir IBB (#13) and hope to secure a win.
An interesting game took place in Gaziantep where higher ranked Banvit (17-11) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Gaziantep (9-19) 82-63. It was a very good performance for Sean Armand who helped to win the game recording 32 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gaziantep moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Yesilgiresun and Demir IBB. Banvit at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Gaziantep's next round opponent will be higher ranked Anadolu Efes (#3) in Istanbul and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Banvit will play at home against Galatasaray and hope to win that game.
An interesting game took place in Karsiyaka where higher ranked Sakarya BSB (14-14) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (11-17) 88-80 on Friday. Worth to mention a great performance of DJ Kennedy who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Aleksandar Trifunovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Istanbul BBSK. Newly promoted Sakarya BSB dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Istanbul BBSK (#11) on the road in the next round.
